Pembrokeshire Pool Leagues

Sunday 14th March saw the current League Singles winners from each of

the Leagues in Pembrokeshire compete for the inaugural "Pembrokeshire Singles

Champion of Champions" title and trophy at Eddies Club in Haverfordwest.

After a series of round robin matches, Wayne John topped the table with a 6 and 0

record, having won all his matches 3 - 2. Henry Janes, Mike Jones and Martin Aries also

qualified for the Semi-Finals, with Wayne playing Martin and Henry playing Mike

Martin soon took control of his semi, building a healthy 3 - 0 lead and finally

claimed his place in the final with a 4 - 1 win. The other semi was a closer affair, with

neither player able to build a healthy lead, but Henry finally won through by 4 frames to 3.

So Mike played Wayne for 3rd place, and Martin and Henry played for the title.

Wayne was able to hold his nerve and claim the silverware on offer for 3rd, after not losing

in the earlier matches, with a 4 - 3 win. The final, a best of 9 match, saw Martin pull

off some incredible shots to seal a 5 - 2 win over Henry, who was very gracious in defeat

with his comments to Martin after the match.
